EOS® Closed Loop model minimises transformer oil waste

Written by Kilian Gerbl | Aug 27, 2024

Electrical Oil Services (EOS®) is an experienced, certified waste management company, yet waste oil disposal at EOS® is minimised. Read this article to find out why this is the case and how waste avoidance works.

Transformer oil is a resource that is worth recycling - for energy suppliers as well as for large and small energy consumers. That's why Electrical Oil Services (EOS®) collects used insulating oil, recycles it and returns it to the cycle in as-new condition.

We call this process the EOS® Closed Loop model.

Thanks to the EOS® Closed Loop model, transformer oil waste is prevented

Electrical Oil Services is a certified specialist in waste oil disposal. We have been completing our customers' orders professionally and reliably for many years, ensuring legal compliance in all disposal tasks.

However, at Electrical Oil Services, we aim to minimise the need to dispose used insulating oils from transformers or tap changers. We achieve this by using our EOS Closed Loop model to recycle and re-utilise used transformer oils instead of disposing of them. This approach reduces transformer oil waste and the need to produce new virgin oil, thereby minimising environmental impact. Additionally, we can significantly lower operating costs.

The result: Transformer oil waste is virtually eliminated with our EOS® services!

Much more valuable than transformer oil waste:
EOS® Premium recycled insulating oil (IEC 60296:2020)

The EOS concept of the circular economy (EOS Closed Loop model) means that the insulating oil used is recycled for as long as possible. This conserves valuable resources and extends the product life cycle. Waste, such as the disposal of used transformer oil by incineration, is thus avoided.

The product generated through this process, EOS® Premium, is a high-quality recycled insulating oil that fully meets the requirements of the international standard IEC 60296:2020 Type B. As a result, EOS® Premium can be returned safely and directly to the oil circuit.

With the recycling of transformer oil and the sustainable EOS® Closed Loop model, companies in the energy supply industry benefit in many ways:

  • Economic benefits through the recycling of transformer oil.
  • Minimising environmental impact and reducing dependence on virgin raw materials; conserving valuable planetary resources.
  • Improve corporate image in terms of sustainability and innovation; strengthen relationships with stakeholders and customers who value sustainable practices.
  • Better fulfilment of regulatory requirements in view of stricter environmental protection regulations in many countries.

With the EOS® Closed Loop model, transformer oil recycling becomes a valuable tool for companies to achieve both economic and ecological success.

Synergy between ecological goals and economic efficiency:

Conclusion: Transformer oil waste can be prevented from incineration

The EOS® Closed Loop Model is an eco-friendly approach to prevent transformer oil waste. It enables companies in the energy supply industry and other sectors to operate sustainably while ensuring the quality, safety, and longevity of their transformers. By implementing a circular economy approach, organisations can reduce operating costs and advance responsible business practices.
