As a field engineer at Electrical Oil Services (EOS®), Mr Cengiz Egeli also manages projects on construction sites for his transformer customers, i.e. he ensures that the transformers are safely installed and connected to the power grid. His transformer know-how is extensive - from project planning and management to advising asset managers, including regular transformer maintenance. We asked Mr Egeli five questions to find out what he and his customers value about EOS®.
I started working in the transformer industry in 2018. I started in transformer production at BEST Transformer, a leading Turkish manufacturer of transformers. I then worked as a field engineer for several years, both in Turkey and abroad, for example in Qatar, the Middle East and Africa, as well as in various European and Scandinavian countries.
Incidentally, I also got to know EOS® during one of these assignments!
The different cultures and experiences that I gained during this time have had a decisive influence on both my business and my global perspective. And it encouraged me to continue my career in this direction, because it is simply an exciting job and an exciting time in the energy sector.
I am particularly pleased that I am now working for Electrical Oil Services, a leading provider of recycled transformer oil and transformer services. Here I have the opportunity to actively contribute my transformer expertise.
A large part of the work at Electrical Oil Services is the project business as a general contractor for the commissioning of transformers. Whether for end customers in energy operations such as TenneT or for manufacturers (OEMs) such as ABB, GE, Smit - EOS® offers its services as a general contractor on a one-stop basis. This means that our customers deliver the transformers to the designated cell and send an employee to check our work at the end. We take care of everything in between.
So personnel, logistics, engineering, transformer expertise - that comes from EOS® and is of course a great relief for our customers.
Electrical Oil Services also offers a wide range of transformer services. I'm considering the entire service packages, starting with analysing the transformer oil, including consulting services, insulating oil treatment and the recycling of insulating oils, both during operation and stationary in one of our own production facilities. The entire transformer data management system operated by EOS® is also unique and enables comprehensive and cost-efficient asset management for our customers.

I am a field manager and manage the construction sites. So I'm responsible for the project and the main point of contact for both the end customer and the operator. I'm on site, with a laptop and smartphone as well as a team that I accompany, partly train and of course also manage.
At Electrical Oil Services, I was impressed by my colleagues' extensive experience right from the start. Everyone here has rock-solid expertise, experience in a wide range of industries and works extremely well together as a team. So it's not the case that only one person knows their stuff and the rest work alongside them. This expertise and team knowledge of transformers and transformer oils is extensive and is highly valued by asset managers and other managers in energy and industrial companies. It is an important asset and cannot be taken for granted.
Yes, of course - and today more than ever. In recent years, we have seen a shift in this previously rather conservative industry towards more sustainable solutions. Solutions that not only convince customers, but also us employees. This is fulfilling, meaningful and fun.
I think it's great that the topic of sustainability is so important in Europe. I realised that sustainability is deeply rooted in EOS® from my very first contact with the organisation . Driven by politics and the market, transformer oil recycling is becoming more and more important, making us an important part of the energy transition.
Yes, I am happy to do so as we are directly involved in some major energy transition projects in Europe. For example, we are working offshore for Viking Link. Viking Link is a 765 km long, 1400 MW high-voltage direct current connection that enables the exchange of wind power between Denmark and the UK. Another example is the cooperation with TenneT in Germany for the Südlink wind power line. Here we are installing and filling all the transformers. So we are right at the centre of the wind power grid integration story.
Conserving resources and advancing the energy transition - that is part of our business model. We don't always have to work for large-scale projects - smaller projects and companies that have fewer transformers to manage also benefit from our comprehensive products and services and our one-stop service.
To understand how transformers work and why the quality of transformer oil is so critical, in-depth knowledge of transformer engineering is essential. We believe it is the combination of solid transformer expertise, sustainable products and customised services that customers value most about Electrical Oil Services.
